Guess who? It's RU!

Since my last post I have thought about what I would write in this one. The last thing that I wanted to do was create a situation where I would be stressed out....or aggravated again.

All I will say is that I got in between two women and that resulted in my being asked to leave where I was boarding my horse. What is the old saying?  I don't know.....but I say, never get in the middle of two women who are pissed off! LOL

Without going into all the unnecessary details, the bottom line is that I eventually had my horse and I moved her to a private backyard barn. The owner is amazing and cares for Ru like she is one of her own! She is fed top of the line hay 4  times a day and grained twice.
There is a large riding ring that Ru loves to run in and stretch her Thoroughbred legs. She is awesome to watch. I can only imagine what she looked like on the racetrack.

The weather has been so cold the past month that my time with her has been limited.
Right before the winter hit I was  doing groundwork with her, Natural Horsemanship, and she was great at it. Either she had training before or she just has a good brain.

I am told by many of my friends that owned or own horses how much I lucked out.
She is beautiful, number 1, and very cooperative! She is smart and listens to voice commands.
She will follow me off a lead line, stops when I stop, and walks when I walk. Maybe all horses do that?

When I first bought her she would dive into her grain bucket to eat. She acted like I was going to take her food away or that another horse was going to eat it, even though she was in a stall and paddock by herself.
The story was that when the woman I purchased her from got her Ru was emaciated and had rain rot. That right there showed neglect.
She was nursed back to health and the rain rot dealt with, and when I got her she was perfect!

As time went on at the place that she boards at now, she  no longer dives into her food. She is much more relaxed and eats at a normal pace. The constant supply of hay has helped I am sure.
In fact, she will sometimes only eat part of an apple, where before she couldn't wait for me to slice off a piece for her! LOL

Next up some history of her background.....sad times, but a happy ending!

Until next time.....

Guess who continued

 Hello all

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Ours was enjoyable and it was nice to be with family!

So as I was saying in my last post, I decided to leave it to the Universe as to whether I should have another horse or not.

I was on Facebook one day back in May and a post popped up about a horse that was available.
A 13 year old Chestnut Mare 16hh OTTB. She was beautiful!
She was the right age that I was looking for. She was chestnut. ( I love redheads! I married one!) LOL
My concern was that she was a mare and that she was a thoroughbred.
And of course the expense of owning a horse was a major concern.

So with some prodding from a friend, we went and met her.
I watched as she was ridden for my benefit and she looked good.
She was brought over to the fence where we were standing and was so sweet. She nudged my hand a few times for me to pet her. Rubbed her head on my chest. Basically, she was playing me LOL

So over the next few days I wrestled with making the decision to purchase her or not.
Eventually the pieces came together with some help from others and it seemed doable.
So I purchased her!

I couldn't wait for her to be delivered. And when she was I still couldn't believe that I owned another horse. I started researching her racing history and found that she had foaled twice.
Earned roughly $50,000.00 and then the trail went dead. But that didn't matter to me.

I visited her during the week after work and on weekends to do my chores, I was rough boarding at a private barn.
It was a nice peaceful environment. And I thought that this was the place to be.
Until the rumblings from outside individuals began............

(To Be Continued.......)
Until next time

Guess Who? Ru....that's who!

Hi everyone

As is my M.O. it has been months since I last posted. But those that follow me on Facebook know what has been going on with me.

First let me say that I am no longer involved with a rescue. I will donate to those that I believe are doing the right thing. But as far as volunteering physically, that's doubtful. I cannot subject myself to the drama and heartbreak that tends to come along with being a part of one.

Since Sir's passing I was empty. For reasons unknown to me I have always had an affinity to horses.
Maybe it's a past life cell memory? Be it as it may, I want to be around and near horses. It has been that way all my life.

At the last rescue that I was at I bonded with Thor. (I had blogged a couple of times about him).
I had hoped to turn my sponsorship into an adoption but it was not to be.
And I have to say that it hurt. You form a bond with an animal for almost a year and then you have to cut ties.

Once I knew that I wouldn't be able to adopt him I played around with searching for a horse to buy.
There were some nice ones to be had but they just didn't seem right. So as I usually do I left it to the universe to decide.
And it did!

More about that in my next post! Promise that it won't be long in coming!

Until then!

I remain.....

And this is Liberty

Alerted by a post on Facebook that this horse named Arrow was hours away from being loaded onto a trailer to be shipped to Mexico and ultimately slaughtered to be sold as meat, I knew that something had to be done! And quick!

She was listed as a Gelding, 14.3 hands, afraid, and appeared to have not been handled too much. She was hard to catch!
Well when the Veterinarian examined "Him" he reported that He was a She! LOL
She had to be lassoed and sedated in order for them to examine her.

We raised enough money to save and transport her to NY from North Carolina along with a 4 year hold Thoroughbred castaway from a Texas Kill Pen named DJ Finale.

Speaking with my wife, she came up with the name Liberty because we Liberated her from certain death!
So Arrow who was a Gelding became a Mare named Liberty! 😂

Liberty and DJ arrived around 12:30 AM to our rescue. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open. We were in constant contact with the Transporter Diamond T Equine Transport. They are fantastic and I highly recommend them. They always had the horses well being at the forefront of the trip.

The driver let me know when they were close as I had requested, and I parked my vehicle at the end of the long driveway with my flashers on so that they could find it.
As I saw the headlights of their truck round the bend my excitement rose. All of the frustration, letdowns, anxiety, etc. from the last week finally were  rewarded.

My anticipation grew as they opened the trailer doors and we settled our account balance. Then there she was. She backed up off the trailer, nostrils flared, head high, eats straight up in the air! Taking in the new sites and smells.
No screaming horses! No smell of fear or death! No known threats. 😊

We walked her around a bit to stretch her legs and she led pretty well considering what we were told. Then we put her and DJ in their quarantine stalls for the night.
I got home around 2 AM and was so wound up that I didn’t get to sleep until around 3.

I woke up at 6 AM the next morning and lazed around until mid afternoon. Then I headed back to the farm.
Liberty wanted nothing to do with anyone. She was petrified. Trying to get the lead line on her was a chore. But we finally did. We were able to walk her and we took our time and were patient. And she did good.

Monday I received a text telling me that she wasn’t eating and that she was lethargic, and not walking as usual.
So I called the vet in. I met him there and he examined her.
She had a fever, which after he looked at the paperwork from down south he determined that she was released with a fever, and she had pneumonia in her right lung.
This was horrible news!

He gave her a banamine shot and an antibiotic shot. Handed me a bottle of pills with instructions to give her 25 later that night. So I returned after work and we gave her the pills. And thankfully her appetite had returned and she took the pills in her grain!!

The Vet has been going there daily checking on her today and as of Wednesday her fever was gone. The report today was positive. No fever. One more antibiotic shot and pills for the next few days!
I have to admit that I was very worried at first. He told me straight out that pneumonia in horses can be tricky. But our girl pulled through.

When you adopt or save an animal you make a commitment to them. You become their voice, their advocate and they depend on you!
We need support to save more from abuse and slaughter!
And any little bit that you can spare helps.
Next time an update on DJ Finale. A soon to be 5 year old OTTB thrown away for failure to win the big purses!

Until next time I remain

Marlokai Fundraisers!

 Hi all

In typical Frank style I haven't posted anything since September!

Things are progressing nicely with Thor. We have totally bonded. I am his Human.

I smile when there are others hanging around the paddock and he comes to me LOL

And he paces in his paddock when he sees me. He is one smart cookie.

We have several fundraisers currently going on.

We need to raise $395.00 for an Osphos shot for one of our rescues. Her name is Elsie and she has Navicular.

She's a beauty as you can see from this picture. If you want to make a tax deductible donation follow the link below.

DONATE

We have also partnered with OneHope Wine. 10% of all purchases will go directly to support our rescue.
Purchase wine to support our EqWine! Great idea to purchase wine for the holidays or for gifts.
Follow this Marlokai Equine Rescue specific link to purchase your wine now!

And finally we are holding a Virtual Crafting Event. This is for our Nassau and Suffolk County NY supporters only. (It's the logistics of getting the materials to you)
The date is 12/20/2020. You must register by 12/15/2020.

It finally happened!

 Hello everyone

Things are moving along at the Marlokai Rescue. Riding lesson bookings are increasing, a few events are taking place online, and fundraising efforts are showing results.

We are still in need of dedicated volunteers, so if you are interested you can reach out to me at frank@marlokairescue.org. There is always so much that needs to be done on the farm and we could use as many hands as are available.

So yesterday I spent the day at the farm doing chores with Patrick Stultz, he is my second son in so many ways. It was nice to have the help and his knowledge of horses is an added benefit.
We got so much done and the weather was awesome! A cool, crisp September day. Even the horses were enjoying it.

I began the day as I usually do by saying hello to Thor in his stall. I haltered him up and took him to his paddock, and let him graze a little along the way. I led him into his paddock and gave him an apple, which he gobbled up piece by piece.

As i worked my chores throughout the day he kept a watchful eye on me LOL
And he would call out to me, (whinny),  and pace the paddock fence.
He just makes me smile. 😊🐴

At the end of the day  I was exhausted and had hurt my foot so I was ready to get home. But before I left I wanted to spend some more time with Thor.
So I haltered him and took him out of the paddock to graze.
Aside from grooming him this is when I feel closest to him. It was the same way with Sir. Do any of you feel the same? Or is it just me?n

I brought him back to his paddock and started to take off his halter. And then it happened. That special moment when you connect with an animal. Or another being for that matter.
I untied his rope halter, expecting him to turn away from me and head over to the hay bag or to the water trough. But, he stayed. Hovered over me, rubbing his head on my shoulder, pushing his nose into me hand. Putting his chin on my shoulder, He was moving his lips on my hand and rubbing his nose on my hands as well. When I stroked/petted his neck he rested his head on me. When I stopped he rubbed my hand again with his nose and lips.

I don't know how to explain it. Nor do I want to. All I know is that it felt special. It felt like we bonded. The connection was made, cemented.
And I couldn't be happier!

Sponsor a horse, or any rescue! They need the love and caring that we can give to them!

And we need it to!

Until next time.....

September 5th - Another great day at the rescue with Thor!

 Hi all

Wow! Can you believe that it's already September??!!!??? I guess dealing with COVID-19 moved the summer along so quickly for me.
I have to admit that today was such a beautiful day. Temperature in the mid to high 70's and low humidity made doing chores so much easier. Even the horses were enjoying the weather.

I had Thor out to graze for a bit this morning.
It's heartwarming that when he sees me round the corner of the barn he starts whinnying. I think that it's awesome that we are forming a bond so quickly.
I put him back in his paddock and the work began.
Lots to do which goes without saying. But it would be nice if there was more volunteers.
But we make do with who we have when we have them. They are all dedicated hard working individuals for sure!
If you know of anyone who would like to volunteer have them call 631-689-1600 and follow the prompts for more information. You or they can also leave a message on the Facebook page.  You can find it by clicking here →Marlokai Equine & Animal Rescue Facebook Page. Please keep in mind that there are other Volunteer opportunities besides working with Horses. (If you are leary of getting close to one)

I accomplished a lot today, and managed to groom Thor as well! He looked great afterwards and this picture that my friend Pete Casano took of us shows how shiny his coat was!

There are many horses at the rescue that are available for adoption and or sponsorship. Sponsoring is a nice way to support a horse without undertaking the expense of actually owning it.
There are many ways that you can sponsor. Even pledging to buy a bag of grain, a bale or two of hay per month for that horse. Or you can up your game and make a monthly monetary donation towards  sponsoring the horse, If you live close enough you can visit the farm and the horse that you are sponsoring and spend some time with him or her.
Again, if you are interested visit the website, Facebook or call the rescue at 631-689-1600. Or leave me a comment here and I will get the information to you.

And if you want to, you can visit the Patreon page and become a Patron. Go To Patreon

Well that is it for now. I need to get horizontal and relax 😉

So please feel free to comment or ask questions.

Until next time.......

Marlokai Rescue happenings

 Hi Everyone

As most of you who follow me on Facebook know I have started sponsoring Thor. We are getting acquainted. He seems very well mannered and responds to commands on the ground. I haven't ridden him yet. Like I did with Sir, I will take my time with him and form a bond. Thor is easy to groom, lifts his feet with no hesitation and stands patiently while I am working on him.
He is 13 year old, 17 hand Dutch Warm-blood.  He is a little bigger than Sir was. Sir was 16.3 hands.....still a nice size.

Needless to say that I am happy to be around horses again and to have one to care for.

The rescue is holding several Fundraising events. Some online and some onsite.

Visit their Facebook page to enter and for additional information about EVENTS. MEAR FB Page

Currently there is a Chinese Auction online. The raffle winners will be announced on the 30th of August starting at 8 pm on Facebook live.

There will be a multi family yard sale on September 12th, with a rain date of September 13th.
The rescue is offering the public a chance to purchase a spot to set up their own table. The cost to purchase a spot is $20.00. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the rescue. If you would like to donate gently used items for the rescue to sell, you can do so and receive a Tax deduction for the items.

On Saturday September 26th Rob West will be holding a clinic. Follow the link below for more information and to register. Space is limited so act fast.

There are other events being planned as of this posting. So stay tuned to this Blog for updates.

Getting the lay of the land

Hi all

I hope that you are all safe and healthy!

A lot has happened since my last post.............

After 16 years at JetBlue I took an opt out package and am enjoying some R&R. I am taking the month of August off and will seek employment starting September 1st.  I have a few job offers in the works and will make a decision once I get the particulars of employment.

I do have to admit that I am more relaxed and stress free than I have been in a very long time. But I need to work. I like working and being productive.

We had a tropical storm blow through here last week, mostly wind. But that wind wreaked havoc for us for a few days. No electric and lots of tree limbs that came down. The street that I live on was blocked by a giant 100+ year old tree that came down. The tree also hit a utility pole across the street from it, taking out the transformer and power lines.

Luckily my brother in-law loaned us a generator so we could at least have the refrigerator, a fan, and our internet working. Needless to say that I  have ordered a generator for future security. 👍

I have toyed with the idea of buying a generator for years. But it's one of those things that when the time comes you go back and forth about how often will I need it, is it really necessary, and blah blah blah! And usually our power is only out for short while when it has gone out, which has been pretty rare in the 30 years that we have lived here........

I have started volunteering at Marlokai Equine and Animal Rescue recently. It's a very well kept farm. The majority of the horses have been rescued from auctions in Pa. Most likely from Amish owners, and eventually the slaughter pens.

So far my role has been on the administrative side. Which I enjoy doing. As with any and all rescues there is a lot to be done. Especially on the fundraising end of things. But we are up to the challenge for sure. We have some fundraising events in the planning stages and I will share those here on the blog as well as on the FaceBook Page and the website.

The rescue offers Riding Lessons, Equine Assisted Therapy, Leasing, Sponsorship, just to name few.

If you have a desire to learn more about horses, or have a skill that you would like to donate your time doing to further our cause, call our Main Number for additional information: 631-689-1600

Monetary Donations (Tax Deductible) can be made via PayPal

I will post an update soon.....thanks for reading!

Rescue Horses....Once again!

Hi everyone:

Two long years ago, on July 8,2018 I lost my friend....my horse Sir.
Since that time I have had an emptiness inside that I could not fill. I missed him, his bigness, his playfulness, and sometimes stubbornness.

I missed being around horses. The smells and noises, the communication with these large beings.
I supported some Horse Rescues with donations online whenever I could. But I still missed being near them.

I tried using this blog for other things, like posting animals that needed to be adopted, Fundraisers, etc. for both canine and equine alike. But to be honest, it was hard to get motivated without having the interaction with them physically.
I would listen to the stories that my friend Rich would tell me from his days at the horse farm near his house in Pa. and I would envy him. But was over the moon happy for him as his love for horses rivals mine!

I had played with the idea of volunteering at a horse rescue, even went to an orientation or two. But they just weren't a fit for me at the time. Job responsibilities, etc. made my commitment level unsure.
Plus there was an underlying guilt about Sir.

So as I did when I wanted to own a horse or be around horses, and knew that it was not probable, I left it to the Universe to guide me if it was meant to be.
Well recently the Universe decided that it was time! I was invited to visit a fairly new horse rescue and I went.
I immediately felt the connection. I could hear the horses, smell the familiar smells, and could feel that surge of energy.

So I will be volunteering and doing my best to assist the rescue to succeed. And when I read my post about Sir passing I saw that I had stated that I would carry on his legacy and do what I could to help the countless horses that need it.

We shall see what the future holds......I will post here now and then as things occur....

Until then........

I Still Remain

Looking Back

Hi
.
The other day I spent some time looking for something in my posts that I needed info on. I started from the beginning here on the blog.
It was a trip down memory lane.
There were happy and sad posts as well as the announcements of events and fund raisers.
And of course the many posts about my boy Sir!

It's wonderful to be able to look back and remember what took place. What the hopes and dreams were and the relationships that were fostered and lost.
But I guess like most things, people and situations change.

If you are a believer that we all come into this world with a purpose it makes the changes somewhat easier to accept. We all have a job to do, a lesson to learn or teach. And so it goes.

But it is sometimes hard to accept the loss of friends that you felt close to. This is life in general I guess. Albeit in my Civil War Re-enactment community, the Horse Rescue, etc. I have lost people that were like family. And that is the hardest part to move on from........

And to that end I say to those individuals; Thanks for being a part of my life. Thanks for teaching me valuable lessons about humanity and other things.
I sometimes miss you out of thin air. And honestly, there are times that you are not even a thought. But you will always remain a part of my life's history and what I have become to this point in my life.

I hope someday our paths cross and we can reminisce about the times that we had together, good and bad and look back with fondness and thanks!

Until next time!

Frank

Horse at Homeward Horse & Hound Of Mississippi Needs help

Here is the post from Homeward Horse and Hound.....

Trax can’t catch a true break. We were almost home free. He has a home offer. His foster reported him being a little snotty so we asked the vet to check him out when she pulled a new coggins on him.

Impacted adult teeth. X-rays will be taken next week to see what we are facing. X-rays will be roughly $200. Dealing with the problem? On the low end, $400-$600. On the high end?
Possibly $1000 if extensive.

This isn’t something we can hoist on his would be adopters. And it’s not something we can do on our own. So we are begging. Please, please help us get Trax over this final hurdle so we can get him home.

I’m going to dig through the stuff we have for auction and post it on the auction page shortly and see if we can raise some funds for him that way. Also will add a donate button on this post.

(His eyes aren’t swollen shut, he just had them closed when the picture snapped).

A day of disappointment and sadness....UPDATE

Well as many of you who follow me on Facebook already know we adopted our Freya!

She is a Potcake from the Bahamas.
Click below for more info on the breed
About Potcakes

She is amazing to say the least. She is 6 months old and smart as a whip. A bit too smart at times LOL.
She asks to go out and do her business around 99% of the time.
Lynn has taught her to sit and beg, which didn't take long. In fact it was within the first week that she was with us, and she learned the reprimand "NO" as well.
She is already the Queen of the roost....well Wolfie reminds her now and then that he is still the King. 😄.
She is a ball of energy....typical Puppy wanting to play and explore. She loves to run in our backyard. She reminds me of a dog that we had years ago. Punkin> She was a German Short-haired Pointer/Irish Setter mix. She could run like a Gazelle!
Freya is the same.....All you see is a white flash!

Amazingly enough she was in the same kennel with the original dog that we had tried to adopt. And she was the dog that was carried out to us the day that we went to pick up the first one.
I guess we were blind to the signs that the Universe was sending us....."HELLO....THIS IS THE DOG THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE!!!!! "
And she was and is! She keeps Wolfie moving....he tries so hard to play with her but his age just won't let him. But he gives it his best shot just the same.
He has stopped the crying that he had been doing since his buddy Griffin crossed the Rainbow Bridge and that is a good thing.
He seems content with her, and they look for each other already when one is outside or they are not together.

So the old saying that it's meant to be holds true in this case.
This was truly meant to be!

Until next time! I am.....

A day of disappointment and sadness

Hi all

As some of you know my wife and I have been looking for a dog to adopt into our home. Wolfie, our dog who we rescued 6-7 years ago, needs a pal. Since his pack mate Griffin passed he has been sad. He still lies in a position where he can see the front door and he cries. When he sees other dogs his tail starts wagging and he gets all excited to play with them.  Recently his buddy Doogan had to be put to sleep.
He enjoyed going to my sister in-law's house to play with his bud Doogan. And now, sadly, he doesn't have that any longer.

So last Saturday we went to a couple of rescues and did a face time with another in hopes of finding the right one to give a Fur-ever Home to.
And we did find one! We instantly fell in love with her! We submitted the application on the spot and received a call during the week that we were approved and she was ours. A follow up call a couple of days later told us that she had been spayed and we could pick her up on Saturday.

So Lynn went to the pet store and bought her a collar and a leash, etc. We were so excited to bring our little girl home. People at my job were congratulating me and wishing me luck, and some were genuinely happy and excited for Lynn and I.

Friday night sleep was not to be had! I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve. In fact I was up and ready to go hours before we were to leave. Lynn even commented and chuckled how she had not seen me this excited and involved in a dog adoption in a long time.

We arrived at the shelter and were told that they would bring her out to meet our dog Wolfie. But the dog that they brought out was not her. Even the Kennel Supervisor questioned it as he was walking towards us, He said that he thought that we wanted the other pup. He went back to the kennel to get her for us. Minutes passed and it seemed like an eternity. We knew then that something wasn't right. There we were standing in the cold with Wolfie waiting for the pup to be brought out.

Then the words that we knew were coming and dreaded were spoken. Some how through an error she had been adopted the day before by someone else and the people refused to give her back.
I ran the gamut of emotions......We had only been with this Pup for maybe 15 minutes the week before but the feeling of sadness was as if we had had her for years.

The rescue took my cell number and said they would continue to call the people who had her. They were leaving messages because they weren't answering their phone. So we came back home with hopes that we would get a call with positive news.

That news never came........Lynn called them to follow up and we were told that there was nothing that we could do. The people had threatened the rescue with lawyers and you can figure out the rest.
However, in an effort to make it right, the rescue offered us a free adoption. They are getting more dogs in next week and we will be afforded an opportunity to choose one.

It still doesn't take away the sadness. But it's something.

Lynn and I have always been strong believers in that the animals we have had and will have always come to us. They choose us. And honestly we have been blessed over the years with the most incredible animals that have come to us in that way.

So next Saturday we'll go and see if any of them chooses us.....we will never know what life would have been like with that precious little one....but one thing that we do know is that she is in her Fur-ever home and not in a shelter.

Remember......"Adopt.....Don't Shop!!"

I remain

Olivia has been at the shelter for close to a year. She desperately deserves a chance with a loving family or individual.
I honestly believe she is one of the sweetest, all around "Diamond in the RUFF" !

Olivia really needs a chance because prior to arriving at the shelter, her life was not an easy one and yet she always keeps her bright and sunny disposition.

I am offering to cover Olivia’s adoption fees for the family or individual who is truly interested in giving her a loving home.
Olivia is available for adoption  Islip Animal Shelter & Adopt a Pet Center
Please feel free to contact me on Facebook Elizabeth on Facebook, and hit your SHARE button to pass Olivia’s story forward.

It only takes one small positive step to make something great happen. Thank you all😊😉

There you have it! I met Olivia during our search for a dog. She truly is a big mush! You can feel her happiness. My wife called her a leaner. You know the kind of dog that leans into your leg when you are petting it. Like they can't get close enough to you 😉

Please give Olivia consideration!

What to do???

Hi everyone

Over the past few months I have been thinking of what this Blog should be about. I have asked some people for ideas and to date have not received any.

I feel like I want to broaden the scope of it beyond just the one rescue and to maybe use it for a spring board for multiple rescues and shelters.
There are so many animals that need our help, both financially and voluntarily and this may just be another vehicle to bring attention to those particular animals and their rescues and shelters.

Don't get me wrong, North Shore Horse Rescue and Sanctuary will always be near and dear to my heart and my main fund raising focus. However, there are others that are in need of attention as well.

So going forward, in memory of Sir, I will post about horses, dogs, cats, etc. that need to be adopted, sponsored, fostered, etc.
If you have a fund raiser that you wish to promote, an animal that is in need, a shelter or rescue that has an urgent case, send the information to my email address and I will post it here.
Send it to skibbo14@aol.com I may eventually get a dedicated email address for this purpose.

Please comment here and let me know what your thoughts are about this new spin.

Thanks for reading!

We're having a RAFFLE!!! Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to all our followers and your families!

I hope that 2019 is a better year for everyone.
2018 was not a bad year for me generally speaking. Yes I lost Sir, something that I still deal with. And lost some friends. Some not terribly missed, others very much so. But such is life.

I have taken control of my health, lost 40 pounds, am seeing a nutritionist, have my blood sugar under control, joined a gym, and have seen some doctors to address some minor issues.
So I am feeling pretty damn good lately! 😆

North Shore Horse Rescue & Sanctuary is holding a raffle to raise money for the organization;

1st Prize is a pair of jetBlue tickets. Good for anywhere that jetBlue flies. (Some blackout dates apply)
2nd Prize is a pair of NY Knicks tickets
3rd Prize $100.00 cash

Drawing to held January 18,2019. Winner not be present to win.

National Day of the Horse #NationalDayoftheHorse

Hi

This coming Thursday, December 13th is National Day of the Horse Day.
It's a good opportunity to help North Shore Horse Rescue & Sanctuary in our efforts to rescue and care for unwanted, abused, and in some cases abandoned horses.

As some of you know the rescue's first benefactor was Phoenix, a wild mustang.
She has lived at the rescue for 16 years now. Until last year she was of course standoffish when it came to interacting with humans. Through the many hours and days of patient bonding by one of our volunteers and her sponsor, Maril, she has allowed her to get up close to her and touch her.

And it is not only the wild horses that are affected.
Every year thousands of domesticated horses are sent to slaughter.

If a horse is deemed to have outlived it's usefulness it will most likely wind up in a kill pen. Thrown in with other frightened and cast-away horses where their ultimate destination is inhumane slaughter and to be sold as meat for consumption in some foreign countries.

We cannot save them all, but for the ones that we have saved and will save, we need to ensure that we provide them with the best life possible.
Winter is just about upon us and North Shore Horse Rescue & Sanctuary needs our help.
Won't you donate today in honor of National Day of the Horse?  Your contribution will help us to buy Hay and feed, provide Veterinary care, just to name a couple.

Please click the the links above to be taken to the website where you will find various ways to contribute. All donations are tax deductible.

I hope that you will join me in contributing in someway. Maybe a small donation in the memory of Sir. 🐎😊
